Re: Progress on my tractor\'s new home

I suppose with a few changes, you could build it in halves, then set the top half on when extra heighth is needed. I just didn't run into that need. Already had another platform to set in rear of trailer truck, for unloading cargo. If I need a low platform, would just grab it.

Re: Progress on my tractor\'s new home

Very impressive, thank you.
It appears the working height would be around 16ft? Just trying to figure how I could use this for working on the side of my home (20 ft).
The close ups really helped me understand how you constructed, great job.

Re: Progress on my tractor\'s new home

Notice you have steel beems going across two sides supporting the roof. This leaves you with much floor area that open? I really like what you are doing, will there be cement floor?

Re: Progress on my tractor\'s new home

Concrete floor?
Yes, there will be a 4" floating slab floor poured inside the pole structure. The floating slab will be kept seperate from the (basically footed) poles, by tacking expansion strip/buffalo board onto the poles before pouring. Floating slabs also have a thickened edge.
In the photo, if you look closely you may be able to see the overhead door thresholds are already poured concrete. In fact, they are pier and grade beams, with 9 inch holes drilled 36 inches deep spaced on 16 inch centers, filled with concrete. Later the thresholds will be almost covered by backfill outside the building and they butt up to the slab on the inside (via expansion strip). Thresholds are 8 inches wide, 5.5 inches to include the pole plus 2.5 inches inside the poles to allow the overhead doors to land on a dependable footed surface. These thresholds were handmixed two weekends ago. The main floor will be Readimix delivered. Roofing this weekend...

Re: Progress on my tractor\'s new home

More progress. Roof is on, minus cap. Here you see the floor in progress. Turned out pretty good. Used a power screed, first time for me, it has some advantages and disadvantages, but makes the work MUCH easier. 15 cubic yds. 4000 psi, air-entrained, 4.5 inches thick, #4 rebar wired together on a 2 foot grid, plus extra on the edges where the conc is thicker.

Re: Progress on my tractor\'s new home

Very nice, very nice. They should be pouring the basement to ours next week. Seems kind of odd but as soon as the foundation is capped they want to pour the basement floor asap.

Re: Progress on my tractor\'s new home

New photo, parked tractor in shed for first time. Major milestone, considering most all labor for this shed has been mine and world's best wife (mine).
