Hello, All, I have a question about the pressure control valve on JD-310 B, it has been blowing the o-ring seal. I replaced it about 3 weeks ago and was using a couple days ago and it was ideling and I heard a hissing sound and looked around and oil was flying every where. Pulled the valve off and o-ring was blown again. My question is, what is the cause of it to blow the o-ring seal, seems like it is a pressure problem. Another question is rebuilding the valve, my manual doesn’t show the proper procedure for the valve assembly and the pin that prevents the movement of the valve spool. Does the pin go behind the valve spool or does it go through the valve spool hole ? Any information on this would be greatly appreciated. When I took it apart the pin was installed behind the valve spool. A video I watched said the pin goes through the holes in the spool valve, so I am not sure which is right. Any help in this would be greatly appreciated, Thanks, jbc1941@gmail.com

I've witnessed a few of those PCV seals blowing. I suggest to check to be sure PCV housing is level/flat. I don't remember ever disassembling the spool in the housing.

Hello and thanks for the reply, yes the face of the valve housing checked to be straight and used a file to double check. The question I had was when I pulled the spool valve out of the valve the dowel pin was behind the spool, and I watched a video of a guy rebuilding his valve and he said the dowel was to go through the hole in the spool valve. My manual that I have for my tractor doesn’t show or give any information on the position the dowel goes in. My valve also had 6 shim washers under the spring, so I took 3 out and put it back together today, but haven’t started it up yet. Will do so in the morning while it’s cooler. Again thanks for the reply.

I suggest to check frt hyd pump stand-by hyd pressure which should be 2250-2350 psi.

First time I just used regular o-rings, this time I got original o-rings from John Deere and so far they are working. My spool valve spring had 6 shim washers so I removed 3 and put it back together and so far everything is working and no leaks, been pushing tree stumps to road for pickup.
Lost 4 Hugh Oak trees from Hurricane Berly.
Thank s s for all the replies.
