My tractor hardly wants to steer unless your turning the steering wheel really fast. Anyone have this problem before? If I'm just turning it normally or slowly the wheels wont turn either way or barely move. Got plenty of oil. No visible leaks that I can find. Just don't know what else to check.

How long has it been since you changed the filter?

Bad piston seal in the steering cylinder.

I just bought this tractor a couple weeks ago. The engine oil was just changed when I got it but no the Hydraulic. Where is the filter located. I was looking for it but it got dark on me last night so I really couldn't see that good.

The 3525 is also not tied in with the hydraulics it has its own power steering reservoir under the hood. There will be 3 bolts on top of it that has a canister filter underneath inside the housing

Mahindra place didn't have my filter but they got one ordered for me. I took some brake cleaner and cleaned out the one I had. It was very Black and nasty looking. Got it somewhat clean but still doesn't look all that great. Seemed maybe to steer a little better. Fluid looked and little nasty to. Took the steering hoses off and ran fluid through it till it came out clean by steering it back and forth But I did notice when you do steer it once you stop it acts like its trying to turn back to center no matter what direction you steer in. Is that normal? Still no visible leaks I can see.

hmmm.. sounds like your cylinder could be bypassing fluid internally... or your HSU needs to be rebuilt. Im trying to remember the way to check... Im thinking you pull the hose off a side of the cyl. then turn that direction to see if fluid shoots out... I always get mixed up on which way to turn.. been a while

What is the HSU? Is that the steering unit? That your steering will turns the the lines run to the cylinder?
