Problem with dual counterbalance .

Good day Sir,
I got problem with dual counterbalance valve . My dual counterbalance valve comprise 2 relief valves. The valve is mounted direct on motor of the winch, and its position is between the motor and the tandem directional valve. there is no problem as the load is light. As the load is heavy I must tighten one of the screw for adjusting pressure of system, and the winch can raise up the load, but as lowering the load, the winch can not operate smoothly. And when I loosen the screw, the winch can lower heavy load smoothly but it cannot raise up the heavy load.
So, please guide me to adjust two of relief valve for operating smoothly of the winch . Does I use the tandem directional valve effect the un-smoothly operating of the winch? I should replace type of open directional valve for tandem type ?

I have never seen an adjustable counterbalance valve. It sounds like each "relief valve" is acting on the flow in both directions, instead of only one like in a counterbalance valve. I true counterbalance valve has zero restriction in one direction but restricted in the other, the amount determined by the pressure ratio. ISZ

Why not use a cross-port relief valve instead of the counter balance valve.

Hodintran... can you please check who the manufacture of the valves are??? there should be a model number on them.. we need to know before anyone can help??
is it a Sun CBCB valve Sun Hydraulics
or a Sun MBEB valve Sun Hydraulics
or a Sun RBAC valve.. Sun Hydraulics
as you see they are all different but the same??? Jim

JJ.. we need to know it the winch is just for pulling or is it used for winching a load over head. counter balance valves will lock the load and a cross overs will not. Valves Add Function to Form
