Mowing Problem adjusting the cutting deck height

I have a 2210 with only 325 hours on it. No hard use. I'm having a problem getting the height adjustment knob to work. I've tried adjusting the big "turnbuckle" to the setting in the owner's manual: 24.6 inches from end hole to end hole on center. That's just about as short as the turnbuckle will go. At that position, the adjustment knob won't turn. I've adjusted the rod out in small increments until it is way out, and still nothing. Right now, the height adjustment knob is stuck and doesn't turn at all no matter where the rod is and the deck is up at the high end and will not come down. The lift arms in back work fine and they are adjusted to raise/lower the deck, but it's still not working. What am I not seeing???

Have you tried making the turn buckle longer? It sounds like the mower deck is not raising high enough to take the pressure of of the adjusting knob.
Is there something above the deck that is not allowing it to raise all of the way?
Have you tried manually raising the deck & supporting it with blocks to take pressure off of the adjustment knob? Doing this would allow you to see if the problem is with the adjusting knob alone.
Here is a link to JD parts on the 2210 adjusting knob. The arm on part 16 rests on the adjusting knob when the deck is lowered.

Chevy, thanks! I was able to turn the adjustment lever and get things going again. I took the rod off and cleaned it up and will be reinstalling tomorrow. Thanks again!
