I recently went to 2 Jd dealers to get quotes on the following:
3032e Tractor
305 Loader
Msrp of the package is 15,379.60 for tractor, 4,214.69 for loader, total for both 19,594.29.
Dealer #1 quoted price of 18,227.36...7% off msrp
Dealer #2 quoted price of 18,563.00...6% off msrp..
Looking at tractorhouse and veiwing what others on this forum are paying (15,000-16500) what gives? I guess when I asked for a quote I was expecting their best offer, how is everyone getting such great deals?

It might be influenced some by the fiscal year cycle, sometimes dealers feel the need to meet quarterly or end of year sales targets. We got our 3038e w/ 305 from a local dealer 4th qtr of 2010 for about $17,500 w/ 60 mo. 0% financing ...

Interesting I getting quotes on different models but I am in general hee are my discounts.

Dealer #1 6.2% discount from MSRP
Dealer #2 8.2% discount from MSRP
Dealer #3 6.0% discount from MSRP
Dealer #4 15.2% discount from MSRP


Guess which dealer is going to get the sale, once I decide which tractor??

Thats what I dont understand , how one dealer can be 2,000 less on the same model...So how do these dealers stay in buisness when they obviously dont want your buisness...I couldnt imagine the profit they are getting on mega tractors or combines

Is that bucket a permanent structure or is is a quick detach (Whole assembly) This stuff is all new to me and I was just wandering....

The bucket itself is quick disconnect..The loader arms and mast stay attatched...There is a Park stand that can be purchased sep. that allows you to disconnect the loader arms, but leaving the mast bracked attatched to the tractor..

sounds like you just asked them for a price on a certain tractor,without telling them you was going to buy.now tell them your going to buy an want their rock bottom price.

Yeah I guess youre right, I just thought that they would give a more tempting quote to sway a buyer into purchasing..It would seem that the average buyer would know what the ball park price it would take to buy something,,,but then as they say...A sucker is born every minute...

Let them know you are ready to buy. I have posted this before when I go in to see the dealer and make the purchase I have already done all my research and have decided what I am willing to pay. I have an earnest money cashiers check for $1000 and another larger down payment cashiers check to show them I am serious. When buying my 4520 that allowed me to buy the package for 18% off. Fair for the dealer and me, I don't expect them to be in business without a reasonable profit.

i dont mess with showing them checks,i just make them an offer an tell them i can write the check right now.but then you have some dealers that dont care if your serious or not about buying a tractor.

Most dealers have a rather large investment in their franchise and are eager to sell a new tractor. They are hindered to a degree with tire kickers though and making the point that you are ready and capable to buy before settling on the price does help with the "meeting of the minds".

I should have pointed out that the checks were used at a dealer who I was unknown to, if I need anything now I can pick up the phone and call.

I have never gotten a "bottom dollar" price the first time around. To the dealer, you are a tire kicker just wanting to know what the cost of various tractors are. When you are serious about talking numbers and have made up your mind on what you want, I bet they'll deal. Especially if they kow you are shopping around.

It is the same at car dealers too. Believe it or not, there are some people in the world (that are financially better off than me) and money is no object, walk into a dealer, pick what they want, and write a check for list price.

That is what the salesmans job is. To get the most $$$ he thinks he can out of you. Because that makes him more $$$. If he thinks you are willing to pay 18k, why qoute you 17k??? Its just the way things work. Never go by the first quote. He is just getting to "feel" you out. Take the LOWEST qoute you got, walk back in there, and maybe offer $500 less than that and see what he says??

I have been pricing JD verses Kubota, and I tell dealers that I am comparing, local dealers are within $20 of each other and comparing Mutton and Barlow (kubota) they are close. If I buy from out of state I only pay shipping not state sales tax, shipping is about $1 per mile, Mutton and Barlow are $1100 less than local dealers, local dealers are about $500 more than out of state dealers.
Of course if you buy out of state and need warranty work, you end up at local dealer who is not real happy you did not buy from him.

all VERY good points, but unlike cars where you can generally find out what the invoice price is, the tractor world is a little more hidden...I agree with everything that you'll are saying and was not disgusted with the quotes but rather a little disapointed I guess..For me this is a big investment money wise...so I want to get the best price possible,I guess all they can say is no to my offer..right?

With pricing like that the Deere dealers ensure that most tire kickers, like myself, stay tire kickers. The main reason I did not buy a deere right there. I expected a price difference of no more tha $500-$800....instead I was in the thousands also.

well ill give yall an example from back in dec.ive got this friend that doesnt have time to horse trade with the dealers.so he calls me an tells me what tractor he wants,an how he wants it setup.so i call my salesmen,telling him i want 2 prices on an 8540 kub w/fel an w/o fel.1st prices was $32,500 w/o 2nd price was $37,500 w/fel.then i priced a 8540 hrydrolic shift same as the above for $33,500 an $38,500 w/fel.so later i called him back an told him i want the buying price on the 8540 ROPs 4x4 1353 fel hydrolic shift,he goes well crapp since its you $36,250.an then he says i know ill have to go lower than that an i go yeah more like $35,000.an he goes let me know if your buddy wants the tractor.
