go with the 2520. it will be the same as the 2720 with few less horsepower, for what your doing you won't know the difference. save a few bucks, and get what there is alot of out there....i'll bet the 2720 is short lived.....

i have the 2520 and it performs awesome.

I would add everything up on the John Deere site and then deduct 15 to 18%
off list price. This will have no bearing on the finance arrangements you make. You can still go with the 36 month at 0%, 48 month at 1.49% or
60 month at 2.49%.

Hiya,

I would stick with the 2520. The 2000 series small chassis does not have a lot of weight for even the 26 HP of the 2520. Until you load the tires and put on some weights it will slip the tires easily on even light ground engaging work.

I've never needed any more PTO HP than what it has even running a 66" snowblower or a 72" rear discharge finish mower. However, I will say that on my property (a mountain), high range is pretty useless other than running down the driveway to go grab the mail.

I run a 72" RFM on my 2520 w/out a problem. Not sure if a midmount needs more power but I'm definitely not at the limit with my RFM. Run a 4' rotary cutter and could easily handle a 5 footer. I pull a 5' box blade w/out problem, tires start to spin when the blade is so full it starts to pour over the top. There is no lack of power when box blading, just not enough weight/traction, which the 2720 won't help you with. If you can run the PTO implements you want to run with the 2520, then the 2720 won't buy you much. If you want to run high HP PTO implements or if your property is very hilly, I think the 2720 will be beneficial.

A 72" deck will not fit under a 2320. The 2520 and 2720 have a longer wheelbase to accept the larger 72" deck. Dollar for dollar, the 2520 looks like a better deal with "only" 5HP less than the 2720. Will you be using the tractor for snow removal? I have driven and started both a 2520 and 2720 under 10 degrees out, hands down my favorite is the 100CI displacment engine in the 2720 and 3320, with easier & quicker starts, less smoke and a more responsive engine. Forget HP, it's all about torque when running a big @ss 72" mower deck and the grass is thick........ Go with the 2720.

i have a 72 buhler/farm king rear discharge 3 pt mower...haven't had a chance to use it yet, but i have used them on the older 850 deere's and they ran them no problem. not sure of the horsepower of an 850????

I was faced with the same decision 2520 or 2720, I wanted a small frame tractor because of limited land. I went with the 2720, it's always good to have more power for PTO driven attachments and what I was hearing about high range with hills, I was thinking the extra HP/torque would help out, I wanted as much HP for the PTO in a small frame machine. IMO, for the extra $'s, I felt it was worth it. So far it's been a good choice for me. If someone were to have more land and did not mind a med frame machine, I would have looked at the 3320 since you are close to it for the money. I am thinking 13 - 15% from list would be a fair deal.
