Kubota GST Grand L3130 w/ 723 loader, Ags
During my lunch today I cruised by a Kubota dealer for some prices. I was looking @ a 3130 GST w/ 723 loader and AG tires. I got a price of $18,300. The Heavy duty bucket was $400 more. To go up to the 3430 he said was $1000 more. Is this a good price and would anybody move up 3 HP for a $1000????? Like the dealer put it.... If you keep the tractor for 20 years it's only $50 dollars a year or a dollar or so a week to have the extra HP under the hood. What do you think of this pricing??? Just Curious.......

John,

the more HP the better in my opinion, but when I bought my 3430 it was right after the price increase so I could get the 3430 that was sitting on the lot already or wait a month or so for a 3130 to arrive and pay the same price. For me it was an equal price and I went for the HP.

With the 3430 you can add the cab later if you want, that may be real nice when snow blowing.

I do not know if $18,300 is a good price or not any more, I know there are regional pricing differences with Kubota, those Texas boys and girls get them real cheap, relatively speaking.

Your call but I doubt you will ever be dissapointed that you have too much power, but you sure will be pi@$ed off with too little power.

If my recent experience applies anywhere else you might be overlooking opportunity in your own back yard if you're not considering a previously-owned tractor. I just had a 2005 L3130 FST delivered here in western Arkansas yesterday with 723 loader, oversized R4 tires, a canopy, and a few other nice-to-have little options for $16,500. It was slightly used with 41 hours. It was a choice of two nearly-identical L3130's which coincidentally were available from the same local dealer at the same time. The other one was a 2002 with only 68 hours on the clock and a Kubota BH90 backhoe for a total of $19,500 delivered. I bought the newer one because it had a lot of warranty remaining and then added a new Woods BH80-X backhoe (which hasn't been delivered yet) for $6555 additional. My "new" tractor is just like new! Duh!

I think and FST is quite a bit cheaper than a 4 wheel drive. Don't know exactly but I think around 2 grand.. Never priced a 2 wheel drive tractor. I'm in no hurry because I already have a tractor but it doesn't hurt to shop.. Prices do nothing but go up so I guess if you buy a new one and they keep going up over the years you really don't lose much when you want to sell it..

Good pricing on both. 3430 is better pricing at only $1K more. More HP is always better to a point. Beyond what you need is wasted. The 3130 I have could use a little more umph and I don't use the PTO to any real degree. Works fine for me when I'm working it but in road transport it's a dog in my configuration. Maybe not your configuration though. So I'd move up and never look back. 3830 would be my buy if I knew then what that L series was capable of and how heavy it was with attachments and loaded tires.. If I were buying tomorrow, even the 3830 wouldn't cut it in the L class tractor. It's a 40 HP frame IMO. Certainly against most competitors it is.
