Prices at different TSCs - what gives?

From an earlier post someone mentioned about getting a 5' KK bush hog for $499 at TSC, I checked the online flyer at my local (Charlottesville, VA) TSC and it was listed for $549, I then checked at another equally close (old CT in Fredericksburg, VA) and their online flyer had it for $599, then checked the TSC at Christiansburg, VA (200 miles away) and it was listed for $499. I guess if you have a choice, better check with all that are within your shopping area.

Yep, Halsey, that's something I don't understand about TSC, but I visit 3 different ones, and I've noticed the prices aren't always the same at different stores for the same item.

But I also noticed the same thing with some of the Sears stores. I recently visited a store and looked at a lawn tractor (riding mower) that was "on sale", then the next day visited a different store where the same mower was "on sale" for $200 less than the first store.

I don't think I would drive to Christiansburg to save the $50.00, but I wouldn't think twice about asking the Charlottesville store to meet the price./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif I am sure that the fact you will be a regular customer will encourage them to meet the price. BTW, Harrisonburg is supposed to open June 10th ! If you can wait you might save 10%.

That sounds a lot like wal-mart pricing practices they always price to what the market will bear in there area. Grocery stores are famous for this also.

Well, you just learned TSC is using a pricing system that sets prices in each store based on a population demographic financial base.
You also know why the Census Bureau wanted to know your family income back in 2000 when you filled out the form.
Nice to know you no longer pay for an item based on what it is worth, but rather based on the income level of the area you live in, ain't it.

A lot of the old TSC's have 5ft wallace bush hogs, those are being phased out and are cheaper.
The new stores are getting KK. That might be the price differances your seeing.

I asked my old TSC in Fort Wayne about a discount on a 5' brush hog and a 5' box blade bought together since I need both. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif I was told by the local manager that those items were all "corporate priced items" and they had no control over their pricing! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif The manager did tell me, however, that right now some TSC "10% off" coupons were floating around. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif If I can find one of those I'll get the $550 mower and $300 blade for $765. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Not too bad, I guess. /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif

Open a credit account at TSC and you should get a 10% discount on your first purchase, no matter the amount. It worked for me this morning on a box blade and sub-soiler. The charge card also makes you eligible for special offers from time to time, and as long as you pay it all in your first billing cycle, there's no finance charge.

It might burn you a little to think you're paying based on where you live but notice which farm store isn't going bankrupt!!
