price of welding rod drop?

I remember i while back I needed to pick up 5# of 6011 to replenish my stash.. tsc wanted nearly 21$ for the 5# box of hobart. I ended up getting them at a local tool store for 14$.

ok.. so with this backhoe subframe I built I burned thru another 5# of 1/8 and near that much of 3/32.. so called around again for price and the local tool store still has 5# rod for 14$, and 10# for 25$.. I happened to be by tsc to pick up one more piece of flat steel to finish up the stabilizer foot brackets, and swap an 02 tank , and saw their hobart rod... 13$ for 5$, and 24$ for 10#

did prices on rod drop? that's unusualy. wasn't a sale price either.

That sounds like the prices of rod at my TSC too. Scott Gross (the only place in town to carry 6010) charged me almost $30 for 5lb of 1/8 6010.

I bought a 5 lb box of lincoln electric 6011 at home depot for $13.00 yesterday.

I'm not sure, but I think that's what I always have paid.

I needed some 7018 to finish a project, at HD today it was $14 for 5 lb and 6011 was $12, all 1/8"...

The price of welding rod is all over the place. Same rod, different stores $13, $21. or more. Priced rod at my welding supply store 5# 7010 was $23. Strange as it sounds Harbor Freight has good 6011 but 2 pounds is $10 on sale. :confused2:

my local HF even has some of the exotic rods.. like hi nickle content..e tc. ( similar to certanium I would think.. )
