A local dealer has a B2710 with the 401 FEL that he recently took in on trade. The tractor has a bit over 500 hours and is a 1999 model in good condition. The asking price is $10,500, any comments?

I am thinking of trading my B7100 in on it.

I think you'll be very happy with that trade. I bought a new 1995 B7100, then in 1999 I traded it for a new B2710. I paid $15,500 for the new 1999 B2710 w/LA401 loader.

I agree with Bird, that is a good price on a good tractor. Assuming you can get decent financing if you need it, that's a lot better than spending $16 k on a new one.

Sounds like a good deal to me. My 1999 2710 has 525 hours and FEL, and I wouldn't take $10,500 for it.

MarkLeininger,

Just a thought but you might email the seller expressing interest if the deal would fall through...

Just keep this in the back of your mind ... the B2710 is NOW the oddman out in the Kubota line. A better tractor (new) can be had for less money (B7800).

I suspect the B2710 will be dropped from the line next time Kubota does a major shake up. It makes no marketing sense to continue it.

Tell me more. When I talked to the dealer about new units he commented that they were using the B7800 in competitive bids and pretty much killed (his words) everything they came up against. I've watched for a long time and don't believe I've seen a single used B7800; maybe that says people really like them. I think of the B2710 and 2910 as fancier units, but basically the same tractor so I don't understand why there's so many used B2710s and so few B7800s. It doesn't bother me that they might be dropped from the line (everyone gets old) but perhaps I should be looking more closely at new 7800s and forget the used stuff. My wife makes fun of me because it takes me years to make a decision on anything that costs more than about $5. I just really enjoy the analysis part of the buying process more than the actual buying part.

Mark ... the answer is simple. The B7800 is a new model for 2003/4. The B2710 has been around for many years.

The list price on the 27hp B2710 is about 400/500 USD higher than the 30hp B7800. Therein lies the demise of the B2710 from the line - less for more.

Frankly, the differences between the 2710 and 7800 other than power and weight are ... 2710 has a nicer seat and standard Mid PTO. The B2910 has other creature comforts that neither of the other 2 have, so I'm excluding it from the comparison. $1000+ more for a 2910 than a 7800 even though they are exactly the same platform/power.

This is a product line in transition if ya ask me. Perhaps I'm being too polite to the Kubota marketeers.
