Price check for used LS R4041

New guy here... A local guy to me is selling his R4041 (tractor with FEL but no other implements). It has just under 400 hours on it. Looks to be in very good condition. I think it is a '13 model and I'm guessing by some research that new price was around $20k. Any thoughts on what a fair offer would be? I've been looking at a new XR4140/XR4145 but then found out about this tractor.

Any issues with this model I should be concerned with? I think it would have the Mitsubishi Tier 4 interim engine. Not sure how the emissions system on this differs from the tier 4 final in the new tractors. Does it have a DPF? I do know that the new tractors have the LS produced engine.

Can't help much on used price but the Mitsubishi tier 4 interim is a good engine. I had one in my 2004 Mahindra. No DPF. Only problem I had was glow plugs but Mahindra came out with an upgraded controller, timer, and different glow plugs kit that solved the problem. My Mahindra was well kept, clean, and held its value and even though it was 10 years old with 460 hours I sold it for 3k less than I paid for it. I've heard of no problems with this model LS. Lots of members have them.

The newer XR 4140 has a Shibaura engine (also good) but it is a tier 4 engine that has regeneration cycles about every 5 hours. My XR 3037 also has that engine and regen cycles have not been any problem.

The XR4145 has a LS engine. I've not heard any negatives about that engine either. Also a tier 4 engine with more hours between regen cycles.

What his R4041 is worth depends on condition such as being clean, no major leaks, no cracks or weld repairs that could show signs of abuse, whether service was kept up on it (ask the owner if he has the records and owners manuals) and what you are willing to pay for it. In very good condition and 400 hours its barely broken in.

I have about 30 hrs on my new XR4140HC and no regen yet. Dealer told me to run at high rpm at all times which I do

I have a 2013 R4041H with 350 hrs on it. No problems with it at all . Love the Mitsibushi engine, very simple engine with no emissions junk on it, and not much electronics. It starts great in the winter also.
I am very, very happy with mine. I paid $20,300. For mine new.

If it's in good shape and you can get a good deal you might be better off with the less complicated machine (IMHO).

I don't know much about resale value but, $15,000 popped up in my head!

I haven't had a chance to go see the tractor yet, but $15,000 was about what I was thinking too.
