pressure washers ??

I have owned 4 pressure washers in the last 10 years,all had vertical pumps.I do the maintience on them change oil and such and bring them inside during the winter.They have cost from $279-$465 and everyone of them has crapped out on me(pumps only)the motors still run fine.Is there a (home owners type)pressure washer out there that lasts longer 1-3 years or do I need to go to a commerical grade washer.Thanks.coobie

I have had a Craftsman 2250 psi pressure washer for about ten years. I can't remember doing any maintenance to it, and it still runs great. The engine is a Tecumseh, and I haven't had one problem with it.

I have encountered the same problem. After searching and searching I have decided it would be best to go with a professional model. In my case the Northern Tool 2750 psi with Honda motor and a Cat pump. I have yet to talk to someone who has not been impressed with the Cat pumps durability. I feel that the extended durability of it will make up for the much greater cost.

I've never owned a pressure washer; but have thought about getting one. Is it safe to assume that the pressure can be adjusted to suit the job at hand, or is the clown who built our house correct in that the pressure is not adjustable?

I know different nozzle spray pattern angles are available, and that a 0-degree nozzle will do more damage than a wide angle nozzle.

You are correct assuming the pressure is not adjustable via any other means than changing the nozzles. Line pressure is always the same but by spreading it from say, 0 degrees to 25 degrees by changing the nozzles reduces the pressure at the work surface.

Is it something in your water causing this problem??

Particularly hard water lots of calcification,lime etc...this sounds possible, if there is lots of dry time between uses....I dunno

Try a hi-flow filter before the pump??
