This is my first season plowing with a Landpride STB1596 FEL plow. I maintain 1.25 miles of gravel road and several 300'+ driveways. Both skid shoes on the landpride failed halfway through the winter season. (about 6 snow storms) Previously, I used Western plows with my tractors and pickup trucks. The Western skid shoes lasted 3 or 4 seasons (30 to 40 storms).

The OEM replacement shoes are around $153 per pair. At that price, you'd think they would last longer than part of a season! Since the Western shoes are $52 a pair and last 5 times longer, I bought a pair and modified them to fit the Landpride. I used a short piece of pipe to shim out the 1" shank of the Western shoe to match the 1 1/4" shank of the Landpride. I finished the plowing season (I hope), 6 more storms, with only minor wear on the Western shoes.

I'm not sure what the deal is here but I'm not happy with Landpride at this point.

Get some hard-facing rod and weld cross-hatches onto wear surfaces. You'll want to preheat the parts and allow slow cool-down under folds of a f-glass welding blanket. You should get a Rockwell-C hardness in the high 50s with such.

Auto Value : Hard Facing Stick Electrodes Supercote Forney FOW 4241 1. lb 5/32" Diameter

I've seen this used to build up bush hog blade edges, and had to use resin-bonded diamond wheel to 'clean up' vs beating-up ('down' lol) a 'green' vitreous wheel.

btw, the BH is now mine, and edge welds aren't as brittle as I cautioned. (seems no shattering under impact)

Never heard of wearing out skid-shoes.Part of the problem is the design of the that particular plow;weight of the plow and FEL on the shoes.Mine is a chain mount(floats the plow) so only the weight of the plow is on the shoes.
You may want to try a rubber edge on your plow.

I see a lot of them used as door stops or get junked for scrap
