predator engines on a troybilt tiller

I am going to put a new predator 6.5 engine on my horse model troybilt tiller. Anyone have experience with this change? Thanks, Russ

I put the 6.5 horse on my early 1980's horse model. Took 25 minutes to switch the motors. Starts and runs great, only have about ten hours on it. No regrets

If there is no gear reduction on old engine, this should slap right up.

My buddy put one on his old (it was his dad's in the 70s) Troybilt to replace the Kohler. The hard part was getting the pullys. The engine has served for 2 seasons. I put one on my Snapper Snowblower, but not been used yet.

My research showed that lubrication is usually the downfall (and quality control). So we both broke them in and changed the oil to full synthetic (after 2-3 hr run-in). It seems from on-line reviews if you get a good one, it's great. If you get one with a flaw it's crap.

Thanks for responding. I have 3 or 4 other Troy horse tillers that may get the same change over. I have a couple of ponies, and an econohorse. I even have a front-tine cultivator by Troybilt that runs great! love the Troys.

Thanks. I have not even taken my new Predator out of the box yet, I declined the extended warranty, maybe not a good idea.
