"Kohler recommends that prior to installing the new filter on the engine, that you first fill the new filter with new motor oil and let it set for several minutes so that the filter material will absorb the oil, then refill the filter and install it on the engine. This procedure is probably used in an attempt to prevent the engine from operating for a short time without oil after an oil change. These engines are also protected by an low oil shut down switch which could likely cause problems with starting if the procedure is not followed."
I am new to Kohler engines but I did not see this advice in their Maintenance Tips. Is this good advice?
