There is an old Power Trac for sale on Ebay (search for PowerTrac PT-116). It is different than any I remember seeing; powered by an 18 HP gas engine. It is always interesting to look at how they have changed over the years.

Worth taking a look at the pictures - it is definitely different. The engine cover tilts forward, for example and it looks like the rear of the tub had a removable plate rather than being a one piece welded continuous tub.

Exhaust blows straight across the hydraulic oil filter and the oil pump. Bet that gets the oil a little toasty.

Looks like it is built of lighter weight steel than the current versions.

It looks interesting and a good blast of history, however, I'd stay away from it just because it has no quick attach, no joystick for the FEL (two levers instead).

It's not like a dingo skidsteer.
It says it can take tons of different attachments, but its a 3pin unit, and PT doesn't make 3pin attachments anymore, do they?
It says the attachment plate can be modified to fit other machines, so what does that mean?

I'd think the trencher, if it's still original, is probably due for some teeth and bearings. Don't know about the tiller. I'd say a lot less for the asking price.

I agree that it would have to be a lot cheaper to be worth buying but it is interesting to see an early design. It looks like it has larger wheels and a larger bucket.

This machine is about an hour away from my house! If it was more like $2000, I'd go and pick it up for interests sake.

Does Tazewell keep a museum or anything? I'm assuming s/n 101 is the first one made? It seems that most tags have at least 3 digits....

I sent an email to PT last night to let them know.

Kristie got back to me this morning and said that it is definitely old (she didn't say how old), but not an original. She told me that the first ones had handle bars, not steering wheels!

I asked for a pic of a handle bar machine, I've never seen one.
