I could literally put this welder in my lunch box. :thumbsup:

I bought a 140 from Mark a few months ago, and when I first opened the box and saw it my gut response was "Oh, this was a mistake." The welder just looked too small to do the things I wanted to do. What can I say, other than I was wrong.

The leads that come with the machine are too short to do much of anything with, and the included manual is absolutely horrible. There are portions of the manual that I can't post on this website because I think they would violate the family atmosphere we have here. The 'welding mask' that comes with it is pretty cheesy, too. I intended to make heavier duty leads anyway, already had a nice welding hood, and read the manual just because it was there. I've been very pleased with the welder itself, and I attribute the few small issues I've had to my own inexperience instead of a fault with the unit.

Overall, I'm a pretty satisfied customer. I would buy one again, and will likely purchase more Everlast products in the future as my needs expand.

140 amps DC gives you plenty of welding options doesn't it?

Thus far, it's done everything I wanted to do. I have gotten concerned about duty cycle once or twice at 115-120 amps. I was concerned over what might happen, while in practice working on the projects I have leaves plenty of time for the welder to cool down, and I don't think duty cycle is anything for me to lose sleep over. Even working with 3/8" plate, I've been happy with the performance.

Man I am really torn between this and the PA-200. I think this will do everything I need, (and I cant really afford the PA-200) but I just cant help but think go big or go home.

You can always turn a welder down, but only up so far. :thumbsup:

As much as I would like to have bought the 200, the 140 has done everything I needed it to do, and I haven't run into any issues with duty cycle. I think the only major difference is the ability to run 6010 rods. Pretty sure the 200 will, where I was told the 140 usually won't.

I've been using 3/32 and 1/8" 6011 rods and been happy with the 140, even working with 3/8" steel. I can't get it to run 1/8" 7018 well, but I attribute that to using rods that may or may not be 'dry'. Turns out the local welding shop stores them in a cardboard box in the warehouse.
