4000 hd industrial 1964
I have what I think is an early 60s ford 4000 series industrial that came with a backhoe unit. It's stamped 1841-s model # with a diamond 48871 diamond serial #. The power steering stopped working. I sent the pump out for a rebuild and also disassembled the control valve assembly under the steering wheel. I found 2 broken centering springs between the plungers. This control valve has only 4
plungers,2 centering springs and 2 plungers with a ball bearing between them. Most models and pics that I have seen show either 6 plungers and 3 springs or 6 plungers 3 springs and 2 plungers with 2 ball bearings. Mine has only has 1 ball bearing. Is it possible that I should have 2 ball bearings. The steering only turns easily to the left and very hard to the right. http://www.tractorshed.com/gallery/uptest/a43106.jpg This is a picture of the latter control valve I described. Anybody experienced with this system? Help would be appreciated. Dan:cool2:
