replaced lower seal in column reassembled no leak now but no power steering either yanmar f250 1999 column removal is quite a job when you don't know what your doing. does the column mounted pump need to be bleed? You have to turn wheel to get it back on to the transmission seems like it took more turns reassembling than it did to get it off any help would be appreciated

Newer model, not much information on them. I would have thought the pump was a duel pump like the F & FX series and not located on the column. I would also think that what is on the steering column is the power unit. Attaching a picture of an FX24 just to see if yours is similar. If not, maybe you could post pictures of what you have.

thanx winston1 completely different animal. you are correct it is the power unit. It is gear driven. Played with it a little yesterday and with front wheels off the ground steering to the right is very labored, but then to the left all you have to do is start turning and the steering takes over all by itself until it completely to the left. I am thinking that it not indexed correctly. Will try again this weekend

still fighting this problem. Have found a mistake I made in regards to reassembling power unit ,but I think I should change out all fluid and filter. My question is what kind of fluid is it ? it is red but I don't know if it is hydraulic fluid or hydraulic/transmission fluid. I also have added about a gallon of universal hydraulic fluid to system and I'm concerned that it was the wrong thing to do. Again it is a 99 Yanmar and I think that the plug on the bottom of the transaxle will drain the entire system but again not sure. Also not sure of what spec fluid should be.???????

Not plain to me whether your fluid reservoir is separate from the main hydraulics which would use the transmission sump as a reservoir. Do you have a separate reservoir up in front of your radiator? Pictures not possible? Red fluid would normally be power steering fluid or transmission fluid. Universal hydraulic fluid would not be correct for your transmission. You would need hydraulic/transmission fluid or regular transmission fluid.
