power steering for the hpx/xuv

Looks good till I saw the price, $995, then I wonder if you can still steer if it goes out or are you stuck till the hook gets there. Did you notice the limitations that might limit the use "[FONT=Arial, Helvetica][SIZE=-1] Unisteer Performance Products recommend that this product should not be used in extreme environmental conditions or in competitive activities." don't look to be too off road friendly.

i don't know why they would make one for the ranger and the xuv?? maybe they mean highspeed off roading like baja racing or something not regular offroad riding of the utv's? in a baja race the speeds get up to 90 100mph but the average joe on the weekend outing don't do that type of riding . now the price is high to. me i would rather have a hydraulic system rather than the eletrical one .put in a real good hydraulic system and it will last forever them eletrical things short out but i don't see anyone makin any hydraulic ones right now and if they did they would probably be trice as high as the eletrical ones.

The installation manual seems very well done. It appears that a lot of effort went into the design of this product. Price is steep though.

i went back and read the add and it says this"This product is intended for normal operation of the vehicle as specified by the original manufacturer,". so that leads me to believe that as longe as you are useing your ranger or hpx/xuv for what the maker designed it for you should be good to go.i think that means no baja racing.lol

This is from their literature "[FONT=Arial, Helvetica][SIZE=-1] Unisteer Performance Products recommend that this product should not be used in extreme environmental conditions or in competitive activities." I would take that to mean no mud or water.

i don't know they say normal use of the utv for what it was designed for and the ranger was desigend to get you there and back. just kidding the ranger is designed to take alot of water and mudplus it's gonna be up under the dash so if the whole dash is under i would say your doing more than what the utv's supose to be doing.most if not all utvs will be dead in the water if you reach the seat if you wanna go deeper you have to rig a snorkel and thats when you get into the "extreme enviromental conditions"

but they sell a stuff calle liquid tape i just used it on my starter i thin if you sprayed all your connections and motors with it it would seal them up really good and water wouldn't be a problem.that stuff is nice.it's made out of the same stuff you dip the tools in to get the rubber coating on the grips.

Power steering would be nice but for those of you thinking of getting a utility vehicle there have been vast improvements in the steering. I had a 05 HPX which steered very hard, I traded that for an 06 HPX which steered much better, I traded that in for an 07 XUV which steers very good. For everyday use I don't know if there is a true need for power steering but for special use like when spraying Roundup around the farm one handed while trying the steer with the other, I can see it as great benefit.

Man, that is good to hear. I have a 2005 HPX and it steers pretty hard. What do you think they changed?

According to their brochures they changed something with the steering gearing and linkage to get the easier steering. It is by no means as easy as power steering, especially when going very slow but it is a great improvement over the 2005 HPX.
