Does PowerService emulsify any H2O in your fuel resulting in no seperation when using a MrFunnel or similar filter? Just wondering if it's best to run the fuel through the filter 1st then add the PowerService.

I've heard that it does disperse it and does not allow seperation this is via a ford document. and also on howes lubricant website.. not sure. I run it in all my diesels never had a problem in 20yrs..

According to Mr. Funnel , it does not remove water that has been emulsified with PowerService. I think by what that says is that it would probably be best to use the water separating funnel 1st, then add the PowerService directly to the tank.

I already ordered a Mr. Funnel after having my tractor suddenly die 2 days ago with a thick belch of white smoke and sudden loss of power. This happened after I topped off the tank 10 minutes earlier, which was about 1/2 full. Pulled off the the fuel filter jar and it was 3/4 full of water, see attached photo. Changed the filter, drained and refilled with fresh, new diesel fuel from the local truck stop and bled the air from the fuel pump and it is good to go. I did have my 30 gallon fuel caddy already treated with the PowerService but apparently this won't gid rid of all, or very much of the water.

Question for others,
What do I do with the nearly 30 gallons of diesel in the fuel caddy which was treated with the antigel(white bottle) Power Service about 3 weeks ago? I am hoping I don't have to get rid of it. Would I be safe to try using it with the Mr. Funnel water separating filter?

Thanks, Jerry

Jerry, my unscientific opinion only, but I think if your container has been sitting, not shaken or vibrated, Mr. Funnel will remove any water than will give you a problem. If it were me, I'd run some through Mr. Funnel, then visually check it after it sat a few minutes to see if I could tell any moisture was there. If there's none visible, then I'd use the fuel.

I have to wonder how you got that much water into the fuel container in the first place. That is way more than you should have from condensation. Might you have gotten a bad batch of fuel when you last filled the container????? Just doesn't seem right!!!!!

Bird & Junkman,
Thanks for the advice. I will test it with the Mr. Funnel when it arrives. Maybe I did get some bad fuel or possibly since the fuel caddy sat outside this summer and is now inside the garage it got some condensation occuring. The Kubota L3830 has only had 15 hours put on it since I got it one month ago. It was outside on the delaers lot for a few months and this may have contributed to it also. I guess I'll find out for sure when the new funnel arrives and test the old fuel.

Junkman,
My new BX23 should be arriving tomorrow or Thursday. Your opinion/comments on your BX22 greatly influenced my decision on trading in my Kubota F3060 front mower for the BX23. Kubota or my dealer should pay you a comission. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks again,

Jerry

Darn... /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif... I hate when this happens... I sure hope that you love the new tractor, because if you don't I am going to feel mighty guilty for what ever I had said that swayed your feelings. The last time that I said something stupid that swayed someones feelings, I found myself getting married 4 months later. You would have thought that would have taught me to keep my opinions to myself... Good luck with the tractor and don't forget to start the photo album of all the projects you do with it. Keep us informed and stay safe..... thanks for all the kind words..... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

For the problems that contaminated diesel can have on the engine no way I'd take a chance on it. Water is death to diesels, especially your injectors. Throw it out or use it to start some bruch piles or something but no way I'd use it even after running it through the funnel.

I had a response directly from Power Service that indicated that their product does NOT emulsify or De emulsify. They claim their is no room in the bottle for additional additives /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif That was direct from the company. They also would NOT say whether or not their product contains alcahol. After that I considered Power Service a very poor product as you simply dont know whats in it. Most likely Kerosine or alcahol with #2 Diesel. The first step in choosing any DFA is too decide which side of the emulsification fence you what to side with and then choose a product that does not have alcahol. I recently Switched to FPPF 8+ Cetane Boost and DFA. The results in my truck Vs the power service are amazing.
