Power Reverser Problems JD 4700

Hi, This is my 1st post. I just bought a JD 4700 with a power reverser trans. When I start the tractor and put the power reverser lever in forward or reverse the tractor stall. The tractor worked fine the other day.
Can anyone please tell if I am doing not doing something right or do I have a mechanical issue?

Are you trying to take off in too high a gear or parking brake on?

No. I am stepping on the clutch. And not even letting the clutch out and it stalls right away.

You shouldn't use the clutch to start out or change direction if you have a Power Reverser.

Parking brake or some "safety" item faulty? Does it stall if it's in neutral?

No. It runs in neutral. just as soon as I put it in forward or reverse it stalls. I was hoping it was some "safety" issue. Something simple I am not doing.

Push the brake pedal down.If it feels hard, you may have the brakes stuck. Check where the brake rods go in to the axle housings. The 4?00 and 4?10 series were known for that. Lube the rods and use a crow bar to work them loose.

Joe, thank you for the offer, but my repair manual just came in the mail yesterday. I spent of last night looking at it for a solution. It has given me a few ideas to try.

Mfreun, Thank you for your help! I will try that this morning.
Another thing I noticed was that while am stepping on the clutch and the reverser is in neutral and the parking brake is off. If I engage the PTO it stalls. If the parking brake is on it does not stall when I engage the PTO.

Does it have a seat safety switch.
Sounds like the possible symptoms of a seat switch.
