*Take the saw then.
Also you can just grab it instead of changing chains and bars if a saw gets stuck.

There was never any question of taking the saw or NOT.

And if you'd read CAREFULLY, That's EXACTLY what I'd already suggested I'd be using the saw for.

The thread ISN'T a "should I get it or not"question, but a query on what sort of saw this model is (besides just C.H.E.A.P.)

That's what I do now. Rather have a second saw handy just in case. Also, this Poulan saw will be more or less "free". Either I take it as partial payment, or I write off ALL of what's owed to me as a bad debt.

in that case take it, put it on craigslist for $90. take your $90 and fill up your pickup with gas once.

I've got the el-cheapo Poulan Wild Thing saw. It does very well, for what it is. One annoying thing is, if left with any bar oil in it, it leaks out.

I had one of the Poulan Pro's with a 20 inch bar. I used it a few times and then the chain adjuster broke. I also found myself getting burnt on some part of the manifold that was not shielded properly. I didn't like it and gave it away for nothing.

FWJ:
Looks like it is a 34cc homeowner saw with a 16" bar, which makes it pretty much a "throwaway" if anything of real consequence happens to it. I have what might be its big brother -- Poulan 2150 "Wild Thing" and I use it for limbing here in town, does fine, not great, not bad. I usually need something bigger when I am at the weekend place where I have have other choices: Husky 357, Stihl 044, Husky 372XP, or Solo 681. ;-)

BTW, many say the perfect "two saw plan" is your MS260 and either a 044/MS440 or a 046/MS460. I say why have a two saw plan when you can have even more!

Someone who owes me a few bucks wants to satisfy some of the debt with a new Poulan Pro 3416 chain saws. I've got 2 Stihl MS260's that outperform any saw I've ever hd my hands on. However, I'd like to have a second saw with each for those times when I get a bar pinched. He has the original bill of sale, so I know it's not "hot". I was told they sell new fo around $125 (?) Anyhow, what kind of saw is the 3416? Besides CHEAP.

I used to work for a logging outfit as a mechanic here in Washington State. When I asked the loggers about a good inexpensive chainsaw, they recommended a Poulan. They also said they would toss the bar and chain, and replace them with an Oregon brand bar and chain. After burning up the factory chain and bar, I did the replacement. It's a much more aggressive and trouble free chainsaw now. The only downside it has compared to the Stihl is power. However, if all you're using it for is firewood or limbing, it's a good chainsaw. After using it for over 18 years, it's now my loaner. It still starts in two pulls and it's has all the power anyone in the neighborhood will need. Besides that, it keeps people from asking for my Stihl or Husqvarna. :D

I work the snot out of all of them and treat them like ugly stepchildren. I think Poulan is getting a bad rap on their quality. IMHO best buy for the $.

Good Mornin weldingisfun,
