Poulan 3700 cracked starter pulley

I borrowed a chainsaw from a guy at Church and it broke while I was using it.

It is an old Poulan 3700, refitter with an Oregon 18" bar.

The starter pulley cracked in half (perpendicular to the shaft).

They stopped making parts in 2009.

I have been everywhere (except TBN) and can't find parts.

Got any good ideas?

I have pics on my laptop, can't figure out how to link them to the message.

The key differentiating feature is the pully where it interfaces the flywheel has 2 posts, and NOT a hexagonal shape.

The saw was running great and cutting well right up until I could no longer start it.

Poulan 3400 3700 and I think 3800 will fit. Craftsman 3.4 3.7 too.

I found a bare grey 3.7 cover too for $15 and ship. You would have to use the guts from the one you used.

I thought you needed recoil. Here is just plastic pulley. Could you show a pic of the 3700 pulley. Below is a 3.7 3400 3800, I want to see the difference.

No sir, both are not right. they are hexagonal, I need two pins sticking up and engaging two "v" brackets on the flywheel...

I will take a better picture tomorrow, the saw is at my other house...

I have a polar 3400 counter vibe that might be the same, post up a good picture and I'll see if it is the same. This saw is collecting dust at the present time and might be a good parts donor.

xyz123 - I'd be willing to try, but it is VERY different from what I have here. The dealer tried the others you showed from ebay etc. and they would not engage.

Fixemall - It is a 3700 counter-vibe, but the 3400 parts I've tried would not work. I will try toget a pictiure tomorrow, the saw is at another house of mine. I will be there doing some work tomorrow & will try to snap a pic.

I know of a bunch of online poulan parts dealers. If it is around.

Yes sir!

They quit making parts in 2009, but the part # is either missing, illegible, or buried under a layer of grime. I will look further when I can get dirty (I'm working my J O B right now...).
