I'll bump this back up with my post.
I don't have one but would probably rent or borrow one before I would consider purchasing one, as once you get your holes dug you won't have much use for one. I have a B7610 and want to do some fencing around our place in the spring. I have a friend in the valley who said I was welcome to use his rather than buying one. ( He has done all the fencing he plans to do and it just sits in his barn.) Another thought is if there is a farmer nearby who would dig the holes for you for a price, you would be time ahead and probably money ahead to hire it out.

I've used one on my B7100HST before and it worked fine. B7100 is only 13 pto horsepower and the PHD had a 9" auger.

Thanks for the post!! You make a good point about borrowing a PHD. I probably can find someone at work who has one....

Thanks for the info..It sounds like my B7510 should handle a PHD with no problems. I think a 9" auger is the max I can use according to the owner's manual..

I do not think power is an issue with the PHD I have one for my BX and usually dig holes at just above idle. Can't be using more than 5 or 6 hp.

I have dug a few post holes with mine (on B-2910) but have lost count on how many shrubs and trees I've planted. It is also great for breaking up new (hard) ground for flower beds and the like. If I had to rent or borrow one I'd probably just go another route. Picking the thing up and getting it hooked up to 3PH the first time was difficult for me. Now I have it hanging by a chain so I just back up swing it into place and am ready to go in short order.
