Hi all!

I found a need for a 3 point post hole digger, so I went and got me one. BUT, after assembling the parts, I attempted to pick it up and dern near busted a gut! Uh Oh. Thing is about 250 pounds! Doh! No wonder it came in 2 boxes (and the auger was separate).

Then when I went to put it on the tractor, I found out that they are no fun at all to attach! Heavy, awkward and hard to line up. So, I decided right then to make a stand that I can use to hold it up for easy attach/detach, storage and transport around the shop.

The stand is made of 1" square tube with a bit of 1 1/2 " angle to support the gear box and couple of small 1/2" square tube pegs to hold up the arms. Right now, it is using a bungie cord to keep the gear box from sliding forward. I may use more stout support in the future...

If you are interested, the first photo is attached.

Looks real good, John, and that's casters to roll it around on?

Good looking rig John. What brand of digger? Looks just like my Greenline.

Bird, Yes, it has casters to allow it to roll around. I thought it would be easier to move the attachment rather than the tractor. I got the biggest wheels that I could afford. Actually, the wheels are more $$$ than the rest of the project combined! They are 4" tall wheels 1 1/2" wide.

Jim, The digger is a "Farm Star" standard duty model 500. It looks pretty stout, but it is not a top of the line model.

Great looking digger stand! This is EXACTLY what I have been looking for. Nice work! Do you still have the plans and measurements for this stand? I have a Land Pride PD25 Post Hole Digger I want to make a stand like that for. It is akin to wrestling an alligator to mount the digger to the 3 pt. hitch.
