I am looking around for a used PHD for my Max 25
seen a few on craigs list, but I dont know how to be sure it will fit? I cant bring machine to try. the thing I worry most about is if it will lift high enough for auger to clear ground. I plan to dig 6" holes for fencing.
Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

if it's a cat1 PHD it should be fine. clearance wasn't an issue on my 28 but I think it had bigger wheels and tires than the 25 does, either way you should be good.

theres a Danuser f7 here for $600 I called Danuser and they say 40 HP is this a problem with a 6' auger?
also a JD for $500

We make PHDs just for subcompact tractors like the Mahindra Maxx, Kubota BX and 1000 Series JDs. If the phd is made for a compact or utility tractor, chances are you'll be dragging the auger around due to the limited lift height.

Something to keep in mind with used PHDs is parts availability....auger teeth/tips(danuser is no issue) and the cost of parts. Some older phds have odd sized output shafts, so replacement augers are impossible to find.

No problems here running a standard Cat 1 PHD on my Max 25. I have put in over 75 fence posts with it so far. Never comes close to dragging and HP was definitely NOT an issue.
