I bought a post hole digger at an auction, though am not sure of the brand. It has part of a sticker on it, and I can read an "F", and I think an STA". I think it could be either a "Five Star" or a "Farm Star". Wondering if it looks familiar to anyone here. The seal where the driveshaft comes out of the gearbox is leaking badly, and I am trying to find a seal for it.

I can't identify the brand, but a good industrial supply should be able to get the seat you need if you can get it out unmangled so they can match it up

Or just fill the gearbox full of flow able grease and forget about it.

Like literally fill them with grease?

In the teens and twenties, transmissions were filled with 600wt steam cylinder oil. It’s about the thickness of room temperature honey.
The old timers would mix oil and grease until a screwdriver would stand up in the can for a few seconds. When the only seals those cars had were felt and cork, thick gear oil was the only way to keep them from leaking everywhere.
