Post Hole Auger on FEL??

Hello,

I am still new to TBN, so far I have enjoyed reading for several hours!!

I am thinking of purchasing a post hole digger for the quick attach on my FEL. I am thinking of a Lowe 750 classic or even the 1650 if my Mahindy will run it.

Questions are....
1. Anyone else running a hydrualic auger on their 5035? hard on the FEL ?
2. About how much does hydraulic hose cost to run from the remotes to the FEL?
3. The manual says my pump output is 11gpm the 750 auger is 7-20gpm, and the 1650 calls for 14-21gpm. will my lower gpm pump run the 1650 and will it just be slower? or also have lower torque?

I only need about 100 holes punched 4' deep, I could pay the man ~$1000 to do it, or I can spend a bit more and have the tool for myself to use at my disposal.

I also have been considering an FEL auger. Once I figure out which hydraulic motor to buy I'm going to build my own. My pump output is just under 10 so I need a motor that runs in the 6-15 GPM.
I ran 1/2" hoses from my rear remotes to the front for my hyd. thumb. I can use the thumb on the forks or loader bucket. I bought the quick connect fittings and ready made 3000 PSI hoses at tractor supply. The fittings were the most expensive items. I thought the hose was reasonable. Hoses were about $40 ea. QC's were $20 a set (male and female). All together my cost was around $200.
From what I've been told about mine (similar to your loader) you should look at the 750 unit in the 7-20 GPM range. Ready to go FEL QA augers with one bit seem to be going for $1900 and up so if you only need 100 holes it would be cheaper to pay to have it done. If you may drill more you might spend more now buy then you'd have it when you need it.

That thumb is awesome!! I just moved some piled up brush from my fence clearing project and that would have come in handy, I had a tough time with just my forks.

thanks for your input, ya, If I can spend an extra $1000-1500 and then still have the tools at my disposal after the specific project I would always rather do that.

My thumb was about $600 including 2 base plates (1 for forks, 1 for bucket) plus the hoses I mentioned so about $800 total. Now that the hoses are there I can use any hyd. attachment up front that my GPM will power.

Ram, I have a Lowe 750. I fabricated a bracket to attach it to the side of the bucket on my JD 4430 FEL. I also had to install a PB kit and then a motor control valve in the cab of the 4430. It works well and with the phd mounted on the side of the bucket, I can use the bucket to haul tools/supplies to the job site and can see the bit very well.
As I said in another post, I am now lusting after a post driver to put in 2 3/8" and 2 7/8" pipe posts. Danuser has recently come out with their T3 driver that is priced about the same as the Lowe 750. I am somewhat reluctant to believe it can drive those pipes 4-5' deep in dry clay soil, but would like to try it.
