Well for sure, internal components like capacitors could come from anywhere. Their website says the 87 is "designed and built" in the USA. Less expensive Fluke testers are made in China though. Just checked my old one, it says "made in the USA" no weasel words there. But that was then and you are right, this is now. Wonder where the steel used to make the stuff we are talking about comes from. We need to ask Papaperk what are the thread rules!!

Sorry if you took it the wrong way, I was in no way down-talking your suggestion. I guess I was just pointing out how sad it is. They are about as close as you can come, really. My 87-iii is made in USA, my 87-v is "assembled in USA", but afaik you can't get better.

I think if it's at least assembled in the US that's better than nothing. Something like a Fluke is gonna have circuits, etc made abroad I'm sure.

Well finally had a few minutes free to take some pics of tools I've purchased in the last 6 months...

First up are these US made Craftsman jumbo adjustable wrenches. Ordered them from Sears.com. Very well made!

By the way... That Stanley 25' tape is US made and at most Walmart and lowes and pretty much everywhere else!
