Post Counters not working

I have notised that the post counters on other members post and my post do not work. When I check my post it shows that I have made the same number post that the counter says, but the new post show up with the same number as the last one......Larry

I see you have 177 post with the one and I have 2004 with this post, how's that ?

I generally don't even think about those numbers, but I see that it shows me at 21,062 so when I post this message I guess it'll go to 21,063 if it's working. I don't think I've ever heard of it not working in the past.

I noticed a long time ago that when I replied to a post the counter did not indicate I had added another post. However, If I close out of the thread I replied to, went into another thread, closed out of that and check back into the one I replied to it shows my post count went up by one.

George, what browser are you using? I only use Internet Explorer and when I post something, the new count is there immediately, so your experience strikes me as being a bit odd. But I know so little about computers that the only thing I could think of is if you're using a different browser (and of course I realize that might have nothing to do with it at all).

I too don't know much about computers. Currently I'm using Firefox. I was using IE but had too many viruses sneak in even with a firewall and anti virus program. Firefox has been much better keeping out the bad guys. I don't really care if the count shows up immediately as long as it shows up. It may be the way something is set. I hate to try and make changes to my browser when I'm not sure what I'm changing. As long as I can get to the site, log in, and reply to threads, thats all I'm concerned about. Posting this reply my post count went up right away so maybe I have it set right.

It looks like when I post it changes the number on all of my post so when I look back they are all alike. That is what messed me up. It dont take much.....Larry

showing 180 now, it counts your total post count not the post number at the top right, If I look at a 1 year old post of yours it will be same as here, 180
did that make any sense? LOL

Post counts show the same on every one of your posts, since it is called from your user account information rather than the post information.

So if you go back to your very first post, it will show your current number of posts, not 1 post or 0 posts.
