Possibly moving: Sell here buy there?

My company is toying with the idea of relocating me. No big deal on that part.

They want to move me from Central Florida to East Texas near Longview to Shreveport, LA area.

The East Texas area has much more agriculture activity than my current area.

If I end up moving, I will probably have more property and need a larger tractor. So, I am building contingency plans in the event of a move.


I have a L5030HSTC which is a perfect machine for my 12 acres.

I would love to keep this machine and get another, but it all depends of finances. I may have to sell this one in order to purchase a larger machine.

Question:

1. Should I sell the machine here in Central Florida?
2. Should I haul it to East Texas, sell it there or use it as a trade in?

Would I get a better price for it here or there? Are tractors cheaper in East Texas or more money?

Here in Central Florida a L5030HSTC with LA853 is about 29-32K.

Do yourself a big favor, check central Texas weather. I have a friend that lives 60 miles south of Dallas and he is much hotter and colder than we are in northeast Florida. Think about this, weather is all the time thing

I agree! I was just up in East Texas, and it was 98 degrees, but it felt like 90 degree with humidity in Central Florida to me. I know it gets colder too! They have ice storms, but I have hurricanes and higher insurance premiums! After going through 3 hurricanes in 2004, and one in 2005, I think I have lost some hair from the stress.

Joe, I just looked at your profile, 12 acres? wow I wish I could afford that. I hope you keep it. They don't make anymore Florida land ( smiley face goes here )
We moved here from Maine 26 years ago and we have State Farm insurance and a real good generator and lots of supply's.

Towing it in to E Texas will automatically help you meet your new neighbors .. . and put you in their "he's gonna be jus' fine" category.

I would take it to your new location and see what you need. There is a good market for tractors up there to.

Sounds to me like a big hassle hauling it 1000 miles. I love my tractor too, but I wouldn't tow half way across the U.S. Sell it to the guy's brother there in central Florida and buy another in Texas. It may be cheaper in Texas.

Thats only a third of the way.

I guess were assuming Joe that you will continue to do something with all of the land? I would find out what your ulimate plan is and do a site evaluation once there. That could really change what you want to do. I would think nothing of pulling the tractor that far especially if your already going there.
