Possible metal source in small quantities

I've been using Online Metals for years on small sizes & quantities. Unfortunately, the shipping costs have escalated to the point where they are often more than the material itself.

When this happens, it's often more economical to make the 60 mile round trip to Nivert Metals in Scranton, PA. The cost of the gas plus the cutting charges are often cheaper than paying for online shipping.

I've used alro and speedy metals, Then I used to get repurposed steel from a place called miller compressing in Se WI, very affordable pick your own even let me cut my own of what I needed. I believe they closed there repurposed steel sales though. I usually go to a scrapyard to get what I need for my smaller personal projects. In my experience smaller steel yards will sell you cutoffs for the price of scrap if you can make them work for your project. I was fortunate and got several tons of steel with a rack, pretty cheap at an auction before prices at auctions went insane.

Auction prices here are insane! I used to buy equipment and cut it up for welding material but cant do that anymore either!

there is a place in st. louis called shapiro metals. always had good prices and see now they ship also. they are online and you can talk to someone if you call.
