My first memory of a Porcupine was in U.P. of Michigan. I was pretty young but think it was a state park and i came running back to our campsite yelling i'd seen a monkey in a tree!! At that time Tarzan movies were pretty popular so of course i'd go straight to a monkey, or maybe i just had a thing for monkey's and apes, cause i also saw a gorilla one night. I was going out to the barn to feed something, i don't recall, but my little tiny flashlight wasn't all that good, but good enough for me to "see" a gorilla.
