I don't live in Vermont, but I can see it from MY porch, when the leaves are off the trees, and I don't think you're crazy for loving being in the middle of all that great scenery!

In fact, we often bike down as far as your neck of the woods, Scott. Bike touring through Vermont has to be one of the most pleasant ways to spend a summer or fall weekend. The only complaint I have is Vermont's tendency to put the state parks where we spend the night at the TOP of steep hills! Makes for a tough climb at the end of a day...

And, those hills keep getting steeper as I get older! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I took the liberty of attaching the view looking northwest from the front porch of my summer cottage, about one mile from here, on Lake Memphremagog, about half a mile north of the US border. The mountain is Owl's Head...

Tom.

Nice photos of the great state of Vermont, guys! I am a homesick native Vermonter now doing time in Philadelphia. I grew up on the shores of Lake Champlain and have family in Colchester, Vergennes, Fair Haven, Milton, Essex and a few other towns. My grandfather had a dairy farm (and several John Deere's) in Williston. Thanks for the pics!

Great pictures!

Wifes from Vermont, I'm originally from upstate Maine (on the border of New Brunswick).

Miss the the state, but God, go to Burlington and it seems that Roberty Dean and his gang have turned it (the state) into California.

As my father in law has stated many times (a native all his life who retired from Washington Electric as a powerline man), I-89 has turned the state into a bunch of carpetbaggers from New York and Boston.

I really do love Vermont, but with taxes in the state, and the way it has "become", will never live there again.
Everything seems to "have to be" politically (sp?) correct, and god forbid if you think "conservative" at all.

"I really do love Vermont, but with taxes in the state, and the way it has "become", will never live there again."

It's funny though..Vermont has the most progressive concealed carry (for Hand Guns) laws in the US. They really believe in the 2nd Admendment

I'll agree with you 110% on the conceal carry laws, always take my 10mm when I go up to visit, and honetsly, can't figure out how and why Vermont is that "easy" pertaining to handguns.

Hard to explain or describe. You just have to stay up for a couple of weeks and read the local newspapers.

I am at the point however where when I do go up, I get bumper stickers (to put on the car just for that trip)proclaiming religion, marriage or gun rights just to drive around in Burlington to tick the locals off!

Also drives my wife crazy, but I think my FIL likes it.

Last one read "Nixon in 96, dying is no excuse". You should of seen and heard some of the remarks for that one!

Your not the only one. We've been back in Vermont now almost 10 years and we still take time to enjoy sunrise and sunset. Then we thank God for a beautiful life. If I ever get tired of our view I'll be 6 foot under. Take care. Attached is a picture we took during sugaring season.

Mornin Sig,
Thanks for the compliment on the pictures!
Yes, I think I know what you mean about Burlington. I wonder how many native Vermonters actually still live there /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Lake Champlain is beautiful, but thats a bit too much hustle bustle for me and Im glad to be were I am /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Our area is mostly AG or AG related and not much money in this area. But if you drive 20 mins south down to Dorset its refered to as million dollar alley along with corresponding realestate prices. Im quite happy right here /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks for looking Sig.
