I wonder if its just my area or is this nationwide, but I've driven by the two nearest dealers and they don't have one on the lot. Now mind you these aren't mega dealers but I would think they would have one. With the JD 2320/2520 and orange 2320/2620 everywhere what am I missing on the 1523. Specs seem fine and not a prerequisite but I like the looks of it. Is it marketing, the tractor doesn't measure up to the others, or is it just my area?

Could be the area maybe?? The Dealer we bought ours from alwyas seems to have one on the lot, or on order. We love ours. When we looked, we looked at the GC series, and then the 1523, and for us, the 1523 worked out better.

I believe the 1523 is sandwiched between two very popular models - the 2300 / 2400 / 2600 series and the 1528. The 2300 / 2400 / 2600 series are primarily for home owners who need a small tractor for around the house / barn chores... and they excel in that area. The 1528 appeals more to weekend farmers. It's more of a real tractor i.e. able to handle 5' bush hog and other 5' or greater implements and is ideal for work around small farms. Where does the 1523 fit in? It's the odd man out. Not enough horses for the small farmer and the 2300 / 2400 / 2600 series are a better deal for the home owner. Jus' my opinion... I've been wrong before.

I agree with this but at the same time the JD and Kubota 23hp tractors with similar specs are fairly popular, at least around here. Maybe not as much as the model that is slightly bigger but the dealers I've been to have them and say they hold their own.
Guess it doesn't really matter, I'm going to find one to test out before buying something in this range. Personally I think it fits just find. Bigger and more clearance that the oversized mowers but small enough to store and mow without a bunch of weight on the lawn. Our house has an accepted offer so the time is nearing for a tractor purchase, finally.:D

I agree. Heavier frame than the GC series, will handle a 4' hog just fine. Gear model has a single stage clutch, PTO stops when you step on clutch, with hydro model it does not.

We love ours.

Might have something to do with the fact that they stopped making the 1523. So there's no inventory to send to your area.
