poor runing 8n

Hello folks 1st time here. just picked up an 8n ? year has front mount dis.

Starts on about 3 try. at lowest rpm will idle fairly well at 1st. after about2 min it start to pop and miss. if you bring the rpm up at about 1/4 it comes up runs but misses and will finally backfire out the exhaust and die.

Put a new Carb on does the same. have a new tank and bowl that planning to put on but seeing what you all might say about this.

check spark at death.. if spark is good. keep checking fuel.. might be restricted delivery.

ext time it starts to sputter.. tug a bit of choke.. if it helps, and spark was good. look at fuel delivery..

found it to have bunt points and lose condenser wire. have temp gass tank off lawn mower hooked up since hood is off will pick up starter today and replaced than see what it does. it did act as if if were fuel problem as if starving choking would help until about 2 min than a big backfire and die may be both problems fuel and ign

without condensor.. points burn.. with a loose condensor points will burn.. when point sburn.. spark gets weak.. choke helps fire weak sparks.

fix ignition first.. then recheck

now a new question want to replace the wire harness , picked up up from TSC but mine is piece meal and colors not match don't happen to have a wire diag. for it do you Also need to make a alternator adjustment bracket any idea where to get one or where to attach or how to make a home made one

you can buy the top slotted 'will fit' type al brackets at auto parts stores in the 'help' section. or simply make your own.

on a tractor with a 3' wire harness?

just wire it point to point.. look at the wire comors on the ends so you know you hav ethe correct one.

PS.. if you have an alt.. you will need to make minor mods tot he oe wire harness anyway. depending on if you have a 3 wire or 1 wire.. 2 different mods.

I have a 1 wire alt.
What is confusing me is the new loom has nice yellow geen and red wires the current on tract one has been spliced so many times with different colors wire
1 will go to alt dont know which color is the ing at key? and then the lights to switch is unknown to me
right now i have a coil wire in red an alt wire a red wire down to foot starter a red to terminal on started sela niod not light wires
I did not know if the colors on the new loom was to go certain places or I can just put them were I need
