H- Roadrunner turbo.

About 30 Mbits

LD1, is that your actual test? If so it's only 3.8mb down and .09mb up. Slow upload speeds bug me.

BTW, my work just tested at 80mb down and 23mb up. I think they limit us though. They've been talking about going to a 10gb line.

wireless from a tower 3 miles or so away

not sure I'd call that H although its about 50x faster than what we had on dialup

they promised they will bump up uploads to 1mb sometimes next year

NICE:D

I really like that upload speed.

What kind of internet is that?? Do you have a server right next door or something??????

I work for a school district, so we are on the University of California backbone which is 2 gigabyte per second fiber. I am at the District Education Center (main office) so the main server room is about 200' from here. The system is actually much faster than reported because they throttle it down at our servers to keep the power requirements in check. The faster you go, the more electricity it takes.

Right now, since the kiddies have gone home, it would probably be 50% faster than the previous test.

As of 11/17/2010 5:35 pm the count is:
H= 40
D= 9
Ratio: one in 4.44 internet users use a dial-up connection.
PLEASE keep polling!
Type a "D" for dial-up
Type an "H" for high speed

Yes it is my actual test.

One thing that some people dont realize and can skew #'s is the difference between megabyte and megabit.

I have RRturbo which is suposed to be 15Megabit. But I can clock 30 megabit on speed test. Upload speed si supposed to be 700kilobit or so.

30megabit is = to 3.8 megabytes per second download speed. and yes the 91k per second upload sucks, but that is the MAX for 756k upload speeds. I think RR limits it. I can rember 56K dial up. Which means a MAX download of 7k per second. considering I can download 3800k per second, I think that is pretty good.

I have high speed cable...H

H = High speed cable.

The location of the server you are connecting to has a lot to do with the speed also. Here are two tests I ran. The local server has great speed, but I'm a little slower when connecting to a server in Paris, France.
