Pole Barn project

Does anyone know of a reputable pole barn builder servicing north central New Hampshire? I got a quote from a local guy for a 30x40 pole barn, gambrel truss roof, all wood, for $30K (that does not include any kind of floor or ground prep). Seems like a lot of money to me.

I'm guessing there can't be more than $8k or $10k in materials but I have no idea what a 30' gambrel truss would cost.

Any suggestions or guidance would be appreciated.

Anyone know what I could expect to pay for trusses?

2 years ago I paid around $100 for 32' trusses, but they were not ganbrel style. I had $10,500 into the materials for a 30'x50' pole barn-no gargage doors, no concrete, no electrical, but it did include 1' of overhang all the way around, with soffits and fascia, 2 man doors, and 7 2'x3' windows. Hope this helps.

About 2years ago I had 32' gambrel trusses designed and estimated..
I believe they were around $150/each and they are 2'O.C. These were able to carry 40psf.

Just for reference. The materials for my 40x60' pole barn not including the overhead door were around $18,000. No site work or concrete included. A local pole barn builder wanted $33,000 for the materials and to build it. My trusses are scissor trusses and they were close to $5,000 and include the purlins also. I am building it myself to save what money I can. Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone... this info helps. It reaffirms my suspicion that $30,000 is to much for a 30x40 pole barn. The guy who quoted me is a local builder whom we've used in the past. He does a good job and has always been reasonably priced. I think he may have decided that he wasn't charging enough for his labor.

I need to get more quotes but I can't seem to find anyone else in the area with experience building pole barns.

When I had my 30x40 barn built last year, I found the local builders were all the highest bidders. They all seem to overbuild as if the barn would be a residence.
One guy came in around $30k and when I finally got it through his head I only need a place to park tractor etc... he came down to $18k. I got a place that only does barns to do it for $15.5k.

That's 1200 square feet or $25/sq ft. I built this 20x28 ft = 480 sq ft equipment shed with metal roof and sides (29 ga R-panel) for about $3600 including gravel floor ($7.50/sq ft).

My 24x42 ft (1008 sq ft) all metal shop with 12 ft high walls cost $16K installed ($16/sq ft) in 2005 for the building alone including two 10x10 ft roll up doors. The concrete floor (6 inches thick, 4000 psi mix, #4 rebar on 24" centers) cost $8K installed.
