If i square a pole barn using batter boards and it is square for sheathing purposes, roofing ETC..What method do I use to square it up as far as the street view is concerned? I don't want it catty cornered, this is my best explanation as to what I am asking.. Any help will be appreciated..Thank you

If you want it parallel with a road, then just use the same method of measuring using diagonals. If you want it 100' off the road and the barn is 60' long, then the diagonal would be about 116.6'.

It depends on how far off the road the barn will set as to how difficult this would be to do.

And all that above is IF I understood what the question was.

Good luck.

I used to do this quite often working on pole barn crew in the '80s. Drive 2 stacks along the side of the road and run a string line on those stakes. Measure off the string line to establish the first wall parallel to the road. This becomes the "fixed" wall when laying out the batter boards and the perpendicular walls are the "adjustable" walls to square it up diagonally.

A compass will get you pretty darn close. Take a bearing on the road and duplicate that bearing with two stakes anywhere on your property.
Dave.
