I agree that much technology can be used in ways other than originally intended.

One thing that comes to mind, in Louisiana on the way to Grand Isle there is a toll bridge with no toll booths, just cameras. You must stop on the highway on the way there at a kiosk and purchase a ticket on a computer where you enter your license plate number and the camera reads your license plate as you cross the bridge and it automatically sends tickets to those who have not paid for passes.

I see where this could be easily rigged to the police network to notify them if certain license numbers are entered into the computer and they could easily catch the culprit on this island with only one way on and off.

This could be very bad for anyone who was breaking the law. Maybe some criminals will think twice before going to Grand Isle and make this one of the safest places to be.

The State here is getting ready to replace one of the local bridges. They are plannig to toll the bridge to pay for the replacement. The problem I have with this is that they are not instaling any toll booths. They are requiring that you purchase a "Good To Go Pass" from the State in order to pay the toll. I cross this bridge once every two or three years. I have issues with having to buy a $50 pass and carry it for the rare occasion I need to cross the bridge. The pass is a RIFF card which can be read as you drive down the road. This will be the only means for paying the toll and vehicles not using it will be mailed a $124 ticket.
