I currently have a RTV 1100 and am considering putting a snow plow on it.
( about $3,000)
How effective will this be for snow plowing?
I am concerned that it is not big enough to push the snow.
Very large driveway and parking area.
My other consideration is a new L3240 with snow blade and loader.
($32,000)
Obviously, prefer the cheaper solution.
But, will that be a waste of money?

Those that I have seen, using light 4WD ATV's ...
Can only move snow a short distance,
They need to build up speed to do any snow removal.
End up beating their equipment to death in a short time...

Snow removal, when needed can be work.
If the amount of snow is such that a light weight machine will push it, you likely don't need to remove it anyway....
If you get snow depths that require removal, you will need something that can dependably do the job. KennyV

Talk to the people that have them here ATVs & Utility Vehicles - TractorByNet.com. Tractor owners probably don't know much about ATVs or maybe opinions of non owners will not be as good as opinions and experiences of actual owners. I have tractors and an RTV1140 which is not a light ATV but I don't have much snow for an experienced answer with deep snow.

John, thanks for your response. I am brand new to this site and did not scroll far enough to see there was a site for ATV and utility vehicles. This is a great site I am sure I will enjoy using it.

I bet you'll be suprised how much the RTV can push. I push snow with a Kawasaki Mule with a 72" Curtis plow without tire chains. It does a decent job. My dad has a RTV. It is a much heavier machine designed to work. Put chains on it, and I bet it will be a real snow pusher.

I had the chance to run one myself this past winter with a 78" blade on it and was very impressed!

The blade was not a Kubota but had a joystick control and I found it would do in two wheel drive what I thought it would do in four wheel drive!

Our customer had specified the blade that was we installed on it and he was not satisfied with the ground clearance and neither were we. We wound up having to add a lift kit to keep it from scraping the ground with the base frame as it only had two inches of ground clearance with the blade down. We never did try to measure it with the blade up but it only would have been more dissapointing.

I used it thorough several snowfalls about 8" deep and was really pleased with it and felt that it would handle most all conditions and quite quickly and of coarse very comfortably.
There are also snowblowers for them with several types of power from a self-contained unit with it's own power and one that runs hydraulically from a self contained power pack.

Art, thank you for your opinion it is very helpful. I love the idea of a snow blower. (no huge piles of snow to deal with late in the season) the problem is I am clearing a large area whose base is bank run gravel and millings. I fear I will beat the heck out of a blower picking up stones and gravel. Can you tell me where I can locate the type of blowers you are referring too. I have called Kubota, they referred me to the dealer and the dealer wasn't aware of any blower available to put on the front end of the RTV.
Thank you for your response.
