The 3215 HST with a front loader might be a good consideration for you at around $18,000. I added a back hoe to mine and I can accomplish an awful lot of work with it and its easy on fuel.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm still leaning towards more HP, but it's not final. I can see the advantage to a smaller tractor in the woods and the budget would allow a new tractor in that size range....

Apart from the HP issue the 3215 looks perfect.

If the higher HP tractor isn't a lot heavier and physically larger, you will not gain much. HP is only as good as your capability to put it to the ground.

That makes sense Galen, but there are still cases where more HP is an advantage, even if the weight to HP ratio isn't as much. Also it seems easier to add weight than it is to add HP...

i'm not sure how close you may be to Moultrie, Ga. They have an Ag show every year and there are lots of tractors for "trying out" and wheelin' and dealin' ! Usually in mid October. Hope it helps.

Give the 3215 a try. I have the shuttle shift model and so far I have 47 hours on it. With the turbo it has done everything I have asked it to do. I even pulled around an old disc the other day that had been sitting for at least 20 years. The fel has moved a lot of dirt and the box blade has done wonders. I have a five foot RC for it, but I know it could easily handle a six footer. I bought it new in June and am very happy with it. I thought about the HST, but did not want to sacrifice the HP so I went with the gear. Good luck.
