Please post your worst mud experiences

I once used my 3020 JD with FEL to fill in an inground swimming pool in a rental house I had bought ...I did not want the swimming pool due to liability issues if a tenant drowned.

We drained the pool and then back filled with Ga. red clay and then came the rains...I still drove onto the now back filled pool to pack and grade out the clay soil...Ugg ! If I had not had a front end loader to get me out a dozen times I would have been completely sunk and stuck up to the bottom of the tractor frame...the pool was 24 x 36 but I got it done...If you don't have anything on your TPH then your FEL will get you out..I have been stuck a few times since then and the FEL with thought and patience has always eventually gotten me out.. I have filled rear tires on the JD 3020 as well.

What a most excellent third post. Welcome to the forum.

FYI the bucket wouldn't pull me out since my box blade was stuck. PM me your phone number and maybe you can come get it out next time ?

Sometimes the pickups get stuck and the tractors rescue them.

I once got a pickup stuck on a wood road way back in the woods. It was
up to the floor in mud. I almost wanted to cry. No AAA out there. I walked for a few miles before I found a guy with a tractor and a logging winch to haul it out. He was scared to go in there (smarter than me) but with the winch he didn't have to get that close. He hauled me out backwards through a lot of mud and almost wrapped me around a tree but I was still grateful. The whole event probably took half a day, pretty much a nightmare but I learned a lot about mud and springtime in Maine.

Just got my back 40 and was driving the 8N around looking over the land suddenly I'm up to the belly in some muck. I got off and got the MF 85 to pull out the Ford. Well the tires spun in the mud and now both were stuck. I got off and unhooked the chain and went back for the Oliver OC3 crawler. I hooked the MF to the OC3 and the tracks started to dig then spin and wouldn't budge the MF. I unhooked and was able to get the OC3 out . I ended up having my neighbor bring over his logging machine and we had to winch out both tractors.

I've avoided that piece of ground since then.

I have a few spots of mud that I've started filling with rocks. I have lots of 100lb semi-flat rocks that fit nicely into the FEl. I just lay them in the ruts and before you know it you can drive right across it. I've done two holes now and can even pull a 3x5 trailer across them with an old 250 three wheeler.

never underestimate mud you don't want to get into a situation like this where you need a tow truck to get un-stuck. it probably did not look muddy at first .(I know this thread is old but this could be useful information)
