Long story short. I bought this tractor 2 days ago from a equipment dealer who took it on trade. It had been sitting for a while, so it seemed to start pretty hard, they had to jump it and the starter sounded like it would bind up as it was turning over, but it finally started.

I got it home and again it was really tough to start, I had to us a charger set to "stun" to get it to crank, again it started making some banging noises but it did start and ran fine.

Today I went start it and it only cranks, it is making some serious banging noises which I am starting to wonder if ther are coming from injector pump.

I checked the fuel filter, it seems to be free, cracked a couple of injecter lines and get nothing. I am really worried that I bought a huge headache. I am disabled and on a fixed budget, so I cannot afford to get it to a dealer.

I should mention that I bought this machine with a bent loader as is, so I cannot go back to the dealer (who is 5 hours away) I purchased the machine from.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thinking the machine somehow jumped timing (Is this possible?) what do they use to drive the injection pump, gear, belt, ?????

Do your glowplugs work normally? What do you mean by "banging"? Are you saying the tractor backfires or is something mechanical making noise with the starter. Please be more specific.

Normally, when the tractor turns over and won't start, it is related to the seat switch. But, if your tractor is backfiring or popping in the exhaust, it is probably not seat switch related.

Glow plugs seem to be acting normally, I do not know how to test them...Seat switch is disconneted, no backfire or smoke. the noise sounds like something starts to sieze up, it is almost like a rapping noise, although sometimes it frees up and the starter cranks over smoothly.

The machine does not seem to be getting fuel...not a drop to the injecters.

The seat switch cannot be disconnected. It can be bypassed, but disconnected opens the circuit and keeps power from the fuel cutoff solenoid.

You need to open the hex-head nut on the fitting where the hose comes to the injector pump. Open your throttle all the way open crank over the engine until all bubbles go away and you only have fuel at that point. If you never see fuel there, then you may have a clogged fuel filter or junk in the fuel tank.

Your starter could be failing or you might even have a broken tooth on the flywheel that is causing your noise. You need another person to help you listen and get a definitive answer on where that noise is coming from.

If your tractor started once, then you seat switch is probably okay (bypassed). If the sound is coming from the injector pump it could be a loose gear since the pump is driven by the cam. Just try to id where that noise is coming from. You definitely have a fuel problem, but the noise concerns me more. Since the starter is on the opposite side as the injector pump, hopefully you can at least determine which side the noise is coming from for sure.

Thanks Jinman, I figured out the problem. Number 1 injector is leaking badly, thic caused everything to become air bound, with the help of my son in law we broke the lines starting at the injection pump and worked our way thru the injectors. It finally fired and smoothed out after a while.

I ordered a new injector from Messicks. Again thanks for the help.

Terrific! It would have been a long time before I came up with all that. Maybe never.;) Sounds like all good news for you and a solid tractor to use. You don't need to be fixin' your tractor in the middle of winter when you need to be plowin'.:)
