Got a real rain day before yesterday. A little over 2" in about 1/2 hour. It drizzled a little for another hour & 1/2. Along with the water came 50/ 60 MPH swirling wind. There had been some small rain storms, enough to grow weeds along the drive way and on my 1+ acre field.

Just used the FEL to do a rough clean up of the drive way and mouth of a drainage ditch. When things dry out a little will push out most all the weeds, get them moved. Then clean out the drainage ditch. use the river gravel from it to improve the driveway & yard. The drive way was lined with white rocks and covered with coarse white sand.

Hope to get the field, & drive way cleaned up, and looking good again. May plant the field in grass some day if I ever get a mower of some kind.

First picture is my drive way at the corner of the barn. Second is the drive going out the north gate. There is a 2' culvert going out the gate, 3 inlets covered with about a foot of water. Picture 4 & 5 are the dive way on the south side of the house. About a foot of water. Next picture is the front yard, hidden in the green stuff is another yard drain that got swamped as well.

2 Pictures of the drive way and 2 of the ditch. Just pushing out the weeds and trash at the ditch outlet had all 4 wheels slipping, so had to keep raising the FEL and make several passes to push up the pile.

We got eight and a half inches yesterday. I caught some of this in a bucket for you Texans. The FedEx guy says he'll be by on Monday.

If possible would love to share with you folks in Texas, know how bad you need it. :(

When the big rain started it was 104 degrees, in about an hour it was down to 70. 2 Days before the storm was the first day since May that it was not over 100. Only 99 that day.

Today was a rain or drizzle day. Sort of rained about 4 times, total about 2/10". Even with the big rain 2 days ago, today's storms started with a Dust Storm. Today was the second day it did not go over 100 degrees, only got to 95. Humidity over 70% so even that feels hot.

Boon,
Got the "Out House" on higher ground, just have to wade to get to it. Not installed yet, but got the white potty for those people that are not sure where they belong. :D:laughing:

Jim with the weeds that tall maybe a mule or goat to help control the growth.
With goats can use the "animal produce" in your pellet stove in the shop of course.

Dry here the cedar trees wilted so easy to push over to clear them from the fields.

Glad you received rain.

Jim, it's interesting that two inches of rain caused that much flooding. If I were to get 2", I don't think I'd have much runoff at all. Your land must be very flat except for a few drainage ditches/swales.

Joe, those are heartbreaking photos. Was that in a basement room? If it wasn't, the water must have been VERY high.

Where the house is located is called "Flood Plain". North end of the place (where I was cleaning) is labeled "Hazard Flood Plain". Any rain that falls about 10 miles east and way. way, south comes here. I can get flooded with out a drop of rain.

The 1 incher had water running, but nothing like the 2 incher. Ground here is also mostly silt and soaks up water very slowly.
