I have a 1430 with one break working and a 2430 with no breaks. Does anyone know if it's the cables that freeze up or the pin in cylinder mechanism. I've tried spraying with wd40 to no avail. Thanks.

I had the same problem. I sprayed with PB Blaster (WD40 really isn't a penetrating oil) and whacked the pins with a punch and hammer. Once they started moving, I sprayed them with a teflon lubricant (WD40 isn't much of a lubricant either.)

Hope that helps.

I've tried the PB Blaster but not the punch and hammer. I'll give that a try. I assume if that don't work I should go with a bigger hammer?

Actually, yes! Don't be afraid to whack it pretty hard - I started with a 2 pound hammer and wouldn't have hesitated to use a 4 pounder. I learned long ago that pounding long and hard with a small hammer will mushroom a stuck shaft where a few licks with a big one will knock it loose.

Rust has probably settled around the pins and housing. Remove then and wire brush or sand them smooth, and re-grease. and install.
