Hi,
My builder left me a pretty big pile of top soil. It is my problem which was part of the agreement. So, what is the best way to attack and spread it? No FEL, No rear scoop. Can a box blade be dropped on the pile and drag it away? thanks, bw

Sure, just back up a grab a chunk at a time. At some point you'll be able to back up so the blade grabs over the top. If you can't get good gulbs, then grab partial width boxes from side. Also remembet, most bos blades can also push like a dozer blade and cut off small slices from edge of pile. How much you grab depends on how hard material is. I've spread hundreds of piles of loam and gravel using these methods. Just go at it, you 'll learn. PS. No rippers down unless you need them to loosen pile in the beginning.

I did have a loader, but I could have done it all with just the boxblade with rippers. Just go slowly if you have no weight on the front in case the BB digs in, the front could come up. John
