I got to try out my new mower setup briefly this evening.

I got to give the tractor and cutter a good workout yesterday. It is a great setup, I look forward to "working", more like playing with my new toy lol. I mowed some tall thick stuff and it never even lugged. Check out the grill up front, almost completely full of chaff but the temp never even moved from below the halfway point on the gauge. That is good to know with our sweltering summers. I've heard of several guys locally with small cab tractors that have had issues with them running hot trying to work with the AC on in thick grass. It is so dry and dusty here that it would be a real pain to get this work done without my cab. My alergies would have me messed up for 2 days lol.20151011_172038.jpg20151011_171951.jpg

Yep, that dust goes everywhere ........ except inside the cab. Be sure to check the removable screen in front of your radiator.

Loving life! Finally cleaning up my drainage ditch! This is what I used to justify a bh purchase with my tractor 2 years ago. 381 hours on this beautiful beast!

My new LS XR4040 was delivered a couple weeks ago. It handles the 4x5 round bales with ease, not at all unstable. I had off loaded 20 of the 24 I had delivered before I realized I was still in 2 wheel drive. The LS has 10 more horsepower and over 1000lbs more that my Ford 1920 - makes a huge difference!

Used the 4046 to lift the Boomer 1020 so I could remove blades and clean the deck. Picture was taken before placing a stack of 10 inch concrete blocks under the front axle and chocking the rear.

Ahhh, I used to do that till I nicked the little tractor with the big tractor. $625.00 and a lot of explaining to do.
I don't lift the tractor like that any more.

How do you like it? I've been looking at the 72" LS finish mower.

Care to share how much you paid for it?

In general it is a great mower and gives a very nice finish cut. I have about 9 acres of "yard" to mow around the house at ranch. Still have to use the JD zero turn under most of the trees but, the RFM can get to about 60% of it.

My biggest complaint on it is that LS designed it with the upper link connection about 8" to the rear of the lower link connections? Great mower with goofy geometry on the hookup. I am working on a couple of ideas to improve this and will share later. With upper link connection so far back I have to use a very long (29") manual top link instead of my hydraulic top link which only extends to 23".

I think LS has an over supply of them so had a special price of around $2400 on them. May still be available? Check with your LS Dealer. Mine is the 84" model.

Looks like maybe you can lengthen or replace the rear braces going from the top link connection to the rear of the deck, which would angle the top of the a-frame forward by rotating on the bottom bolts?

Yep, that is one of the ideas I am considering.

I bought an "everything attachments " 66" . I ran the hydraulic lines through the machine up to the rear remotes for rite now but at some point in the future I may add the third function valve kit. So far its not been two big of a deal using the lever for the rear remotes. Bought all the hoses and connections and fittings at tractor supply for the hook up.
